Officials: Three in Trenton arrested in drug raid

Cocaine, oxycodone, marijuana, firearms and ammunition: that's what the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said it found inside a Beakes Street apartment last week in a raid.

The county's special investigations unit arrested a man, 40, on drug charges; they said he had been attempting to flee out of the rear of the building.

Inside the apartment, officers arrested another man, 50, and a woman, 47 years old.

Law enforcement officials said that a surveillance system had been set up inside the apartment, with a camera aimed outside from the living room window and connected to a laptop computer. Officers claimed the 40-year-old saw them coming on the computer, which they said is why he attempted to run.

He was apparently taken into custody in an adjoining yard.

Officers executed a search warrant at the Beakes Street apartment as well as at a residence on Southard Street late last week following a month-long investigation.

The computer and camera were both seized, as was a .40 caliber Glock 27 firearm and its full ammunition clip, along with powder cocaine, crack cocaine and 60 grams of marijuana, officials with the prosecutor's office said.

In addition, officers said they found a loaded .38 caliber handgun in the bathroom. Elsewhere in the residence, they uncovered two prescription oxycodone tablets, drug paraphernalia and more ammunition.

The 40-year-old faces drug possession charges, as well as two counts of possessing a weapon while committing a narcotics offense, receiving stolen property, possession of hollow-point bullets and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is also accused of violating the "certain persons" weapons offense law prohibiting certain people from possessing firearms.

Bail was set for him at $100,000, officials said.

The other man has also been charged with a "certain persons" weapons offense, as well as being in possession of stolen property. Bail was set at $25,000 for him.

The woman was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as drug possession. She was released on a summons.

All should be presumed innocent unless the state can prove otherwise.
