Drug and weapons charges made after raid on home

Two men in Trenton were arrested following a raid on their home by federal Marshals and Mercer County Sheriff's officers.

Charges involving both drug offenses and violations of firearms laws were made.

The officers stated that they had obtained information that led them to suspect that a 27-year-old man living in a house in downtown Trenton was involved in selling weapons to alleged gang members who were believed to be the shooters in several recent incidents. They went to his home with an arrest warrant for unpaid traffic fines he was wanted for.

While they were in the home, they claimed to observe marijuana and material fort packaging it in the kitchen, as well as a black gun box in the man's bedroom. They also stated that his 28-year-old male roommate had a bullet proof vest and a handgun inside his own bedroom.

The officers then obtained a search warrant issued by a judge for the home. In the course of the search, they say, they seized four guns as well as a quantity of ammunition and drugs.

The roommate was charged with being in possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of 5 grams crack cocaine, intent to distribute drugs, and unlawfully having a .32 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun with the serial number defaced. His bail was set by the court at $100,000, with posting of the full amount in cash required.

The 27-year-old man was charged with failure to appear in court on the traffic fines warrant and unlawful possession of a defaced firearm.

These are serious criminal charges requiring a serious criminal defense attorney. These men could spend considerable time behind bars if convicted on all charges, making their choice of attorneys critical.
