Michael J. O'Donnell is a native of Northampton, Pennsylvania, which at one time was one of the largest cement manufacturing towns in the world. He graduated from Northampton High School as a "Konkrete Kid" in 1978.  Thereafter, he attended De Sales University, where he graduated in 1982 ranked 7th in his class.  

After graduation, Mr. O'Donnell worked in the accounting field for the Bucks County Controller's Office and KPMG Main Hurdman.  He was thereafter appointed as the Chief Financial Officer for the Ben Franklin Technology Center at Lehigh University, where he served for several years.  After working in the accounting field for approximately six years, he made the decision to follow his dream and attend law school.  

In 1988, Mr. O'Donnell enrolled at the University of  Iowa School of Law, graduating in just two years in 1990.  Thereafter, in 1992, he obtained a Masters of Law Degree in Taxation from the Temple University School of Law with the goal of utilizing his accounting experience to pursue a career as a Tax Attorney.   In further pursuit of that goal, he served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Michael A. Andrew for two years and worked with Peter J. Zipp, Esq. for over three years in the local property tax area.   

In 2000, he was hired by the New Jersey Attorney General to enforce the provisions of the tobacco Master Settlement Agreement ("MSA"), between 46 States and the four largest tobacco companies. In this capacity, he represented New Jersey's interests in conjunction with Attorneys General from other signatory states and proposed and assisted in drafting pertinent legislation.

In 2002, Mr. O'Donnell joined the law firm of Markowitz Gravelle, LLP, which firm has since been reconstituted as Markowitz O'Donnell, LLP.  Mr. O'Donnell's practice has evolved to where he focuses to a large extent on criminal and municipal court matters.  He has appealed and argued criminal cases before the New Jersey Supreme Court and United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals. He also serves as counsel for several municipal land use boards and represents clients with a host of other legal issues. 

Mr. O’Donnell also sits on the Board of Directors for the River Union Stage Company in Frenchtown, New Jersey and is an avid marathoner and ultra-marathoner.
