Trenton teenager charged with drugs and weapons offenses

Police in Trenton have accused a 17-year-old of a drug crime as well as a firearms violation.

They were summoned to the 100 block of Boudinot Street at approximately noon by a phone call stating that a man holding a gun was present on the street. When officers arrived on the scene, they chased the armed man, who they believed met the description obtained from the 911 caller, and he went inside a house after refusing orders to stop.

Police say that they received permission from a parent of the teenager to search the residence.

While they were outside, the teenager allegedly tossed the gun out of a window on the second floor of the building. Police claimed that it almost hit one of them. Police then seized the weapon and secured it as evidence, while one of them stationed himself at the home's back door to prevent the teen's possible escape.

When they entered the building, according to their report, the teenager was discovered in a bedroom, attempting to hide himself from police. They say that they seized 252 decks of a substance believed to be heroin which was present in the building. Several hundred dollars in currency was also seized from the arrested teenager.

Charges lodged against the youth included possession of heroin, as well as enhanced charges based on purported intent to distribute, and intent to do so within 500 feet of proximity to a public park. He is also being charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and tampering with evidence based on the claimed throwing the handgun out of the window.

Those who find themselves in similar situations should remember that they have the right to legal guidance from an experienced criminal defense attorney.
