Driver with suspended license hits kids; 2 hospitalized

A 32-year-old man was test driving a vehicle without a valid driver's license when he struck two boys on their bicycles recently in Lakewood. Four children were out for a bike ride with their mother when the vehicle hit two of the kids. The driver said that the accident occurred because the brakes went out on the car and he couldn't stop the vehicle.

One of the boys was taken to Lakewood's Kimball Medical Center while the other was taken to Jersey Shore Medical University Medical Center. It is unclear why the boys were sent to different locations as reports also stated their injuries were not critical. On the other hand, injuries to children are often monitored closely since some symptoms or issues don't present themselves upon initial examination.

Naturally, the car accident should have never happened. Someone with a suspended license is not legally allowed to be driving. The driver has already been charged for driving without a valid license. Moreover, the person who was selling the vehicle in question has been issued a summons for letting an unlicensed person drive the car.

Lots of New Jersey people sell cars and may not readily be aware of the need to check someone's license before they test drive the car. It's important to do so to avoid situations like this. No one expects an accident to occur, but they happen every day. It is fortunate that more people were not hurt and that the two boys who were struck were not more seriously hurt.
