New Jersey car accident leaves 1 dead after truck loses load

Drivers in New Jersey, and all over the world, are tasked with obeying traffic laws and being mindful of others on the roadway. Unfortunately, there are more dangers on the roadway than just reckless drivers. One recent car accident on Route 280 serves as one example of just how important it is to stay aware of what is around the vehicle whenever an individual hits the road. Additionally, it also demonstrates the importance of ensuring that anything being hauled or towed is properly secured.

The recent accident took place after some of the load being hauled by a tractor-trailer came loose onto the roadway. When the truck driver attempted to pull over, a car driving directly behind struck the truck. According to authorities, the driver of the car was killed in the accident. Reports have not provided information about the condition of the truck driver, or whether any charges will be filed in this accident case.

Reports also do not indicate whether or not the accident was caused by the tractor-trailer's load coming undone, or if other factors were present. Police are still putting the pieces together to determine exactly what happened. Unfortunately, no amount of investigating can bring back the life that was lost. There can be little doubt that the victim's family is heartbroken over this tragic loss.

As the investigation moves forward, should it be discovered that negligence or recklessness on the part of the tractor-trailer driver or another party contributed to the car accident, the victim's family may be able to seek recourse. Under New Jersey's personal injury and wrongful death laws, the victim of another person's negligence or recklessness may have the right to file civil claims against such persons. Successfully litigated civil claims can provide those injured, and the family of someone killed, with much-needed financial compensation. While no monetary compensation can take away the pain of losing a loved one, it can help cover the many expenses associated with the serious injury or death of a loved one.
