Truck driver sentenced to 12 years for cocaine charge

On Aug. 22, a truck driver who was found transporting drugs in New Jersey received a 12-year state prison sentence from a Superior Court judge in Warren County. The 35-year-old man was handed the sentence after pleading guilty to first-degree possession of cocaine with intent to distribute on Feb. 25. He will be ineligible for parole during the first four years of his sentence.

2 men charged with drug crimes following traffic stop

In an Aug. 12 report, New Jersey authorities released details about a traffic stop that occurred on July 29 in Hunterdon County that resulted in two men being detained on drug charges. Clinton Township police reportedly received information that the two men would be at a gas station located at the Route 31 and Payne Road intersection with drugs in their possession.

Pharmacist accused of selling pain medication in drug ring

A 77-year-old New Jersey pharmacist was charged on Aug. 13 for his alleged role in a drug ring that involved 16 people. According to the report, the man was accused of illegally obtaining and selling the potent pain medication oxycodone. It was believed that the pharmacist provided the woman who was accused of being the ringleader with the pills even though he allegedly knew that the prescriptions were fraudulent.

New Jersey man held on drug and gun charges

A 27-year-old man was taken into custody on July 18 after a raid on a Bridgeton home. Numerous criminal charges are pending, and the man is being held on $100,000 bond. Authorities indicate that they executed a narcotics warrant at the home, and while searching the premises, they allegedly discovered several weapons and ammunition.

New Jersey man charged in heroin bust

A 25-year-old man was taken into custody after police raided his home and reportedly recovered a pistol, material for packaging and a substance believed to be heroin on Aug. 8. The man was the target of a joint investigation conducted by a special investigations police unit in Gloucester Township and police from Winslow Township. Police claim that the man was distributing heroin in significant quantities from his home. The special investigation unit and SWAT team executed the raid after receiving a search warrant.

Reality star sentenced to anger management counseling

The New Jersey-based reality star, Michael Sorrentino, also known as the Situation, was sentenced to complete 12 weeks of anger management counseling in connection with assault charges. Sorrentino was sentenced in Middletown municipal court on the morning of July 28.

4 face drug and forgery charges in New Jersey

Four individuals ranging from 30 to 37 in age were detained in connection with a July 19 traffic stop. Residents of the Bronx and Johnson City, the occupants of the vehicle were on Route 1 when Fort Lee authorities pulled the driver over under the Fletcher overpass at 2:20 a.m. According to the official complaint, as they approached the BMW, officers reportedly smelled raw marijuana from the area of the passenger's compartment. The officers claim that they could also smell raw marijuana on the registered owner of the car when they were asking him for permission to search the vehicle.
